It was just a comment...Innocent enough no doubt, but it has had me thinking all day long. Sadie and I were having our usual midmorning discussion about the progress of her weaving stall. It is always great to talk about business there and the wonderful job she has done. Actually I have never seen anything like it. Technically, all of the 40,000k or so currently in the stall coffers is profit. The other day, Sadie told me to remove the money I gave (loaned I guess now) for the startup of the stall. I ran a couple of stalls before and while the ironmonger was somewhat successful, none really boasted the success of this one...and it is through a lot of hard work and mainly the smarts of the owner in charge. Anyway...Sadie is looking to open a tailor and it will happen sooner or later. She is inching closer, saving up poe with a goal of attaining at least 1k per day in pillages to keep her on the right path. While the production of sail cloth is what has made the current stall thrive, it would obviously be better if the stall could begin producing colors once sadie opens up her tailor...one stall helping the other. I mentioned today that perhaps Mistyraven with a little encouragement, could begin saving to open an apothacary (not sure if that is spelled right or not). "If Misty opens an apoth, then we are a merchant crew," said Sadie...just a statement...an observation really, no editorial comment or dig or anything...just a comment. I thought about it for a minute and said "Is that good or bad? There was a brief moment before Sadie responded "I don't know" So, that's where we are. When I started with Crabs I dropped my stalls because it took time away from pillaging. I wanted to pillage because I figured it was the best way to make poe. And while I don't like to announce how much I carry around with me...i will say, I have more than doubled my 'walking around money' since my return to the game a few months back...I have hit a plateau I wanted to reach and lately have been spending what I make rather freely...while staying at that plateau. I have been able to help Sadie with her stall, by moving supplies in the mornings when I get up...for an hour or so, then I consider nighttime my pillage time. That has worked rather well. She is certainly right to point out that we could become a merchant crew...that doesn't necessarily bother me if merchant translates into rich....and if I can still limit my 'shop duties' to a minor part of the day... So, all of this blathering has me drawing a couple of conclusions. 1. Technically, I still don't own a stall...and I like that..It is a given that I will run Sadie's stall when she moves on to the tailor. but that is nothing more than I am doing now...basically moving hemp in...making the orders and keeping the supplies up. 2. How much will the job duties or costs increase if a. we try to start producing more colors of cloth? and b. Misty opens an apoth? - I don't have an educated answer for those questions...items for an apoth basically sit relatively close (Oyster, Winter, Delta? Meke?), but my experience with an apoth is that the costs are high and really, the profit margins similar to the weavery, but it is doable. 3. How long would it take until it seems every time I get on...there is more supplies to be picked up, ordered or produced and would it start cutting into my own coffers. 4. Sadie's work to make her weavery a 'turn-key' operation have been successful. It will run now with a minimal amount of attention (an upcoming week and a half vaction my have a somewhat detrimental affect...hard to say). Can a tailor be run the same way....apoth? 5. Why don't I shut the hell up now...I have been talking in circles and blathering on long enough.... okay, okay...any comments on this...like all of my other propaganda, would be greatly appreciated.
